The octonionic projective plane

چکیده
As mathematicians found out in the last century, there are only four normed division algebras1 over ℝ: real numbers themselves, complex numbers, quaternions and octonions. Whereas very well-known most of their properties carry to (apart from fact that these not commutative), octonions different harder handle since they even associative. However, can be used for several interesting topological constructions, often paralleling constructions known ℝ, ℂ or ℍ.

Percolation on the Projective Plane
Since the projective plane is closed, the natural homological observable of a percolation process is the presence of the essential cycle in H1(RP 2; Z2). In the Voroni model at critical phase, pc = .5, this observable has probability q = .5 independent of the metric on RP 2. This establishes a single instance (RP 2, homological observable) of a very general conjecture about the conformal invari...
متن کاملTriangulating the Real Projective Plane
We consider the problem of computing a triangulation of the real projective plane P , given a finite point set P = {p1, p2, . . . , pn} as input. We prove that a triangulation of P always exists if at least six points in P are in general position, i.e., no three of them are collinear. We also design an algorithm for triangulating P if this necessary condition holds. As far as we know, this is t...
متن کاملConics on the Projective Plane
In this paper, we discuss a special property of conics on the projective plane and answer questions in enumerative algebraic geometry such as ”How many points determine a conic?” and ”How many conics do we expect to pass through m points and tangent to n lines?”
متن کاملPlane-based Projective Reconstruction
A linear method for computing a projective reconstruction from a large number of images is presented and then evaluated. The method uses planar homographies between views to linearize the resecting of the cameras. Constraints based on the fundamental matrix, trifocal tensor or quadrifocal tensor are used to derive relationships between the position vectors of all the cameras at once. The result...
متن کاملSimpler Projective Plane Embedding
A projective plane is equivalent to a disk with antipodal points identiied. A graph is projective planar if it can be drawn on the projective plane with no crossing edges. A linear time algorithm for projective planar embedding has been described by Mohar 20]. We provide a new approach that takes O(n 2) time is but much easier to implement. 1 Description of the problem A graph G consists of a s...
